工程師種哈密瓜 2顆市價500元

〔自由時報記者楊金城／鹽水報導〕六十五年次的蔡鴻圖回歸農村當起新農人，栽種夏季品種的「美華」哈密瓜，甜度高達十六度，兩顆市價要五百元，頗受市場歡迎。

一顆玉女小番茄讓蔡鴻圖起了轉業念頭，他說，去年十一月品嘗到友人栽種的玉女小番茄，甜度高達十三度，又香又甜，心想為何小番茄能這麼好吃。

於是開始研究種小番茄，先蓋十坪小溫室實驗，種出興趣，加上當時擔任工程師設計車燈的壓力超大，有了當新農人的衝動，蔡鴻圖只考慮一個月就決定當農夫，太太潘柔宇全力相挺，工作之餘也在溫室幫忙。

天助人助，鹽水農會和鹽水第十二產銷班員陳文林也將栽培管理技術傾囊相授給蔡鴻圖。

夏天時溫室內氣溫高達三十八、三十九度，蔡鴻圖在裡面澆水、施肥、剪藤、採收，汗流浹背，但「結果」是甜美的，他的哈密瓜甜度達十六度，更自豪的是通過ＳＧＳ和吉園圃雙認證，安全無毒品質有保證。

鹽水農會推廣股長丁淑玲說，當新農人返鄉打拚愈來愈多，農業和農村的發展未來值得期待。
